What is October Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
October Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
During this month, various events are held worldwide to promote and raise funds for breast cancer awareness, including walks, runs, and the illumination of landmarks in pink. It serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and the need for regular screenings, as well as the importance of community efforts.
Jordan's role in raising awareness about Breast Cancer
For October 2025, we have partnered with The Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP) and The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).
The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) is a comprehensive cancer center in Jordan dedicated to the treatment and care of patients with cancer. As a leader in the fight against cancer in the region, KHCC provides state-of-the-art medical services and is actively involved in cancer research and education.
The Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP), led and supported by KHCC, is a nationwide initiative aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of early detection and screening for breast cancer. The program works to improve access to screening and to build the capacity of healthcare providers across Jordan. Through education and outreach, JBCP strives to empower women to take charge of their breast health.

The importance of early detection and yearly screenings
Early detection of breast cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and survival. Yearly screenings, including mammograms, can help detect cancer at an early stage when it is most treatable. Regular self-examinations and awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer are also crucial.
In Jordan, initiatives like the JBCP are vital in encouraging women to undergo regular screenings and to seek medical advice if they notice any changes in their breast tissue. By promoting early detection, we can improve outcomes and save lives.
Our role in joining this movement
At KUVRD, we are always committed to making a positive, action-driven impact in our community. This October, we’ve partnered with the JBCP and KHCC to support their efforts in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer screening and treatment. Through every purchase of our Amaal Pink Keffiyeh Bandana, a portion of the proceeds will go towards their campaign, ensuring that our contributions make a real difference for women in Jordan.

We believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting each other. By joining this movement, we aim to spread hope and encourage more women to take proactive steps in their breast health journey.
The importance of social media in raising awareness
Social media has become a powerful tool in raising awareness about important issues, including breast cancer. It allows us to reach a diverse audience and to share vital information about early detection and screening.
This October, we are launching awareness posts across our social media platforms in collaboration with the JBCP's campaign to highlight the significance of early detection, share key statistics about breast cancer in Jordan and the MENA region, and encourage yearly screenings. By leveraging the power of social media, we aim to educate and empower more women to take charge of their health.
