Inside KUVRD's Family Keffiyeh Factory
Every KUVRD keffiyeh begins on the same looms our family has run for three generations. We don't source from a third-party supplier and we don't resell another maker's cloth — we weave our keffiyehs in our own family-owned factory in Amman, Jordan, a factory whose roots trace back to Jericho, Palestine. From the first thread to the final hand-finished fringe, the work stays in the family.
From Jericho to Jordan: How It Began
Our grandfather, Ahmed Al-Bulbul, was displaced from Jaffa as a young man and settled with his family in the Ein al-Sultan refugee camp near Jericho. He learned the textile trade from the ground up, working at a manual-loom factory in Hebron through the 1950s until he had mastered every part of the craft.
In 1958, Ahmed and his brothers opened their own textile factory in Jericho — the Golden Textile Factory — where they hand-produced keffiyehs on manual looms. When the 1967 war forced the family to leave Palestine again, Ahmed refused to let the craft die. He re-established the Golden Textile Factory in Amman, Jordan — the first keffiyeh factory in the country — and ran it for more than thirty years.
Ahmed Al-Bulbul passed away in 2006. The factory he built is run today by his children, and his grandchildren carry the legacy forward through KUVRD. Three generations, one unbroken thread.

Inside Our Workshop Today
The keffiyeh starts at our family factory, where it is hand-woven on the same kind of looms Ahmed used. From there, each piece comes to KUVRD's own workshop, where our team handles the final touches, hand-finishing, and quality control before it ever reaches you.
Our workshop is also where our mission lives. We train and employ women and refugees, giving them real, paid work and transferable skills they carry with them for life — so that even those who move on leave with a craft in their hands. The intricate tatreez (traditional Palestinian embroidery) on our pieces is stitched by Syrian and Middle Eastern women we train and employ directly, keeping a centuries-old art form alive and in skilled hands.

Why Authenticity Matters
The keffiyeh is more than a scarf — it is a symbol of Palestinian identity, resilience, and belonging. When you buy a keffiyeh, where it was made matters. KUVRD is one of the few brands that can trace its keffiyehs to a single family's looms across three generations, woven in our own factory and finished in our own workshop, with no third-party supplier in between. That is the difference you can feel in the cloth.
