Despite the nation having no strategic borders with Gaza or any economic advantages the Yemeni people demonstrated unconditional solidarity with Palestinians and their struggle against the occupation.
This raises the question: why should a nation facing civil conflict, famine, and displacement exhaust its resources and safety for Gaza? The answer lies deeply in the principles of Islam and the concept of Ummah–which calls for unity, solidarity, and support for fellow Muslims regardless of their background. In times of hardship no matter the circumstances there is a strong emphasis on compassion, justice, and standing up for the oppressed as demonstrated by the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) who always protected the weak despite being vulnerable himself. For Yemen, their support reflects their deep-rooted belief in these Islamic values.
Why Yemen Stands With Palestine
Yemen’s solidarity is also a response to the oppression that Palestine has faced for decades. The Yemeni people, having experienced enough hardships, understand the pain of living under danger and foreign control.
Their stance also extends to their hatred for Western greed and imperialistic interests, who have been complicit in the occupation through military aid, economic support to Israel, and their interests to dominate the Red Sea’s strategic Bab al-Mandab strait.

In Yemen, the current conflict has left 9.8 million children in need of urgent aid, with millions facing famine and a lack of education. Similarly, in Gaza, the genocide has left thousands of children without homes and parents, leaving them vulnerable and without support.
